The Roots – Mahatma Education Society |
The Mahatma
Education Society, one of the leading
institutions for quality education, founded
in the year 1970, is a living example of
a vision linked irrevocably to national
goals. Born in a time when education was
deemed service, it set about bringing social
and economic change through the proactive
personal development of every child that
came into its fold. The vision of Dr.
K. M. Vasudevan Pillai (Founder,
Secretary, and CEO) and Dr. Daphne
Pillai (Joint Secretary and Rector)
guided the trust which grew from a single
school into a multi-institution, multi-location
group, delivering quality education at all
levels.
MES owns and manages over 48 institutions,
from pre-primary to post-graduation. Well
known as the Pillai Group of Institutions,
this education major has its own teacher
training institutes, which allow it to define
its own standards and to achieve 100% results
unfailingly. It does so through a highly
motivated faculty, a learning environment
powered with the latest technologies, a
spirit of innovation that sees it reach
for the highest standards of accreditation
in its field. MES recognizes that the sharing
of knowledge remains the finest manifestation
of a unified world. The Pillai Group of
Institutions believes that a more informed
India is a stronger India.

EduNation
|
Dr. K.M. Vasudevan Pillai has
documented his travails in this progress
through a book titled EduNation:
The Dream of India Empowered.
This is an unprecedented piece of work.
It not only exposes the glaring inadequacies
of the Indian educational system over
60 years of Independence, but through
a deep personal study of how things work
in advanced countries, and through examples
of spirited entrepreneurship from the
author’s own life, provides chapter after
chapter of meaningful hope. It speaks
to all, in a language that is lucid and
with a pace that is representative of
the author’s own scale of growth.
The vision is to prepare students to the
international standards, so that they
could compete and take their place on
the global platform. Also, they can be
more effective citizens as well as managers,
supporting each other with mutual understanding
and respect, and all of this now in a
more complex, multicultural, high-tech
global setting.

International Academic and Student Exchange
Tie-Ups
|
The Pillai Institute is known for its
pioneering efforts in creating strong
global collaborative links. The collaboration
with Saint Mary’s College of Business
and Economics, Moraga, San Francisco was
established in 2006 and they have hosted
six groups of Pillai students who visit
the US every year to learn about American
business culture and strategy. In July
2011, we hosted a group of U.S students
pursuing MBA from Saint Mary’s for a student
exchange program titled “Indian Corporate
Models – Global Paradigms & Business
Strategies”.
